Graffomat – Graffiti Vending Machine

No comments:

Believe it or not, GRAFFOMAT is introducing a graffiti art supply vending machine. “Forget about the times where you would run out of paint in the middle of the night and there would be nothing you could do about it. Graffomat is here for you 24 hours a day, located easily accessible on almost every street corner in your neighborhood.” We can already see a few issues with this (i.e. who actually buys paint?) but a novel idea nonetheless.

Morals Fiber Summer 2010 Lookbook

No comments:

Morals Fiber is a brand based out of Honolulu, Hawaii. The brand also has a screen print shop that supplies quality work to a long list of specialized clients. Morals started in 2000, then the brand took the back burner to the demands of clients and other projects.

To bring some fresh blood into Morals as a brand, founder, Kyle Ito decided to incorporate the help from local tattoo artist Lucky Olelo and Aloha Fixed’s Ryan Lau. In time for Summer 2010 they present their new collection and also give a nice look into their screen printing process on one of Lucky Olelo’s designs for the new line. Check out the video here below.

Here are the first two of many prints Burlesque is producing this Summer for The Arcade Fire's string of live dates in support of their forthcoming LP "The Suburbs." EMEK's thinking behind it:

so I was thinking about the realtionship between Art and Music... how do you paint something that happens in a split second...

Tomer Hanuka’s Star Wars Poster “Father: Encounter on Dagobah”

No comments:

Tomer Hanuka’s “Father: Encounter on Dagobah”. The 19″x25″ poster print is a limited edition of only 350, each hand numbered. The poster will go on sale on Thursday July 29th on the MondoTees website at random time.

Here is a quote from the artist, Tomer Hanuka:

“The central idea going into this image was depicting planet Dagobah itself as a portrait of Luke’s subconscious in it’s most interesting and unformed phase. In a nightmarish sequence, Luke runs into the mist where he thinks he saw Vader. Luke finds him and a lightsaber duel ends with Vader’s decapitation . The mask cracks open on the severed head, exposing the frozen face of a dead Luke Skywalker. The suggestion here is that somewhere within Luke’s psyche there is a potential for ultimate evil. Luke’s greatest challenge isn’t the Galactic Empire and it’s endless, faceless troopers, but the magnetism of the dark side; the seductive idea of choosing his own potential for power over everything else.”

He did a great job working the Vader helmet into the layout. This one will go fast be on it.

Moon Over Biloxi Print by Shepard Fairey on sale details

No comments:

The title of this print “Moon Over Biloxi” is a tribute to the Dead Kennedy’s song “Moon Over Marin”. In 1984 I picked up maybe my 4th punk record which was the 2nd Dead Kennedy’s album “Plastic Surgery Disasters”. The album is a great listen all the way through and includes some blistering tunes like “Riot” and “Bleed For Me” laced with social commentary. The surprise song though is “Moon Over Marin”… detractors have called it the Dead Kennedy’s “U2″ song, but I disagree. “Moon Over Marin” is more melodic than most DK, but juxtaposed with the darkness of the lyrics, the song evokes a powerful sense of existential melancholy. I think the concept that struck me, and stuck with me, is that our disrespect of each other and the planet may doom us , but things will continue without us. I think it is healthy to recognize impermanence, but also to appreciate the value of the ephemeral. Moonlight, real or electric, will probably be around, but what it will be casting light on is the real question. There will always be a moon over Biloxi.
-Shepard

For Release on the Full Moon, Tuesday July 27 at a random time. 18 x 24″ Screen Print, Signed and Numbered Edition of 400 (Cream) and 200 (White). A portion of the proceeds go to the NRDC. Keep the F5 finger working ObeyGiant.com

Visual Artist Bobby Hill Hides Over $50,000 On NYC Streets And Trains!

No comments:

Artist Bobby Hill sent over information on his ambitious project.

It seems as if there’s a grandiose game of hide n’ seek being played in NYC and no, I’m not talking about the kind played by grade school children in summer camp (although that’s fun too). Since July 2nd 2010, pedestrians and subway riders have been pleasantly surprised to find limited edition “Bobby Hill Multiple Original Art Prints” during their commute throughout the city. Each of these unique works of art is conservatively valued at $50 apiece (not considering prices increasing over time), which means Bobby Hill is dropping over a cool $50,000 in total on the unsuspecting folks of the 5 boroughs.

Internationally known visual artist Bobby Hill has created 1000 limited edition Multiple Original art prints to celebrate his one-man show, "BHILLBOARDS" (pronounced: billboards), which opens this upcoming 9/11, for two nights only in NYC during Fashion Week. The exact location will be announced August 31st via Resetuniverse.com and to those who RSVP. The original prints, which currently features images of Bob Dylan, Bob The Builder, and a special one of Muhammad Ali, were individually handcrafted by Mr. Hill on found corrugated cardboard. These pieces will continue to be strategically placed throughout NYC until September 10th, 2010.

The lucky few that find one, will have a unique work of art that lasts a lifetime and the opportunity to bring it to the Bhillboards Artshow to get it signed. In addition, the first 250 guests to the arrive at the show will receive a NYC 9/11 inspired “Bobby Hill Multiple Original Art Print.” For more info, visit www.resetuniverse.com or www.youtube.com/resetuniverse.

BHILLBOARDS is never resting on your laurels, never living off yesterday’s victories never taking anything for granted and always pushing the envelope by putting your best on display for the world to see. Bhillboards is determination multiplied by vision. Bobby Hill, Resetuniverse.com, NYC… Bhillboards.

Electric Sheep & Rabbit Nightmares by JR Goldberg

No comments:

If androids dream of electronic sheep, do rabbits have nightmares? Los Angeles illustrator J.R. Goldberg, has dedicated countless hours of scientific research on sleeping bunnies to explore the depths of their depravity. What she found is that these warm and fuzzy, seemingly docile creatures, harbor dark and murderous desires just like us humans.

This box set is available for presale one week only at http://ltdtee.net/index.php?id=89 from July 26th until August 1st. Please note that this link will not work until 12:01AM PST on 7/26. MSRP for this product is $24.99 and our shirts come in both men’s and women’s sizes. My readers can also use discount code "bunnymonsters" to save 20% off their entire order! Discount is valid until 8/1.

J.R. Goldberg is an illustrator, printmaker, and comic book artist who resides in the ancient caves of Los Angeles. She escaped with a BFA from the renowned School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which she feels has too many “ofs” in its title. J.R. recently had her first book published by Slave Labor Graphics, entitled JELLYFIST, for which she provided the illustrations, and half of the commentary. Additional works include HOW TO BE A PROPER HOST, and other zines for the Small Science Collective. J.R hopes to not become a hobo, forced to draw on the side of dumpsters, and eat cardboard.

The Mutiny of the Flesh box set includes:
• High quality, screen printed t-shirt
• 8” x 10” art print
• Custom screen printed box
• Artist bio on both the box and neck label
• LTD Tee Sticker pack
