Artist statement:

One of Earth's most ancient creatures, green sea turtles spend their entire lives at sea, except when adult females come ashore to lay eggs several times per season every 2 to 5 years. From greens to loggerheads, six of the seven species of sea turtles are endangered at the hand of humans.

'Ahimsa' is the Sanskrit word for nonviolence or compassion. It is the principle and practice of nonviolence toward all living beings in one's thoughts, words, or deeds. As a concept, Ahimsa is the recognition of the dynamic unity of reality where all life is interconnected and interdependent.

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us “universe,” limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons close to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from our prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all humanity and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein

Both editions will be on sale Wednesday, February 1st at 12pm PST. at https://www.pangeaseed.foundation

Spiegelsaal Flaming Lips Berlin Poster

No comments:

The duo that make up Spiegelsaal of Torsten Jahnke and Jochen Mönig have a crazy new poster for the recent Flaming Lips concert in Berlin.

More is more, when you print a poster for the Flaming Lips.
Nothing short of being their most ambitious printing project so far: 3 day-glo-colors, 2 metallics, 2 versions:
Day-glo-orange/green/magenta, blue metallic, dark-violet
Gold, day-glo-green/magenta, blue metallic, dark-violet

Plus they added some genuine UnicornShit to some of the posters. Really bad idea, the print shop is full of glitter now according to Torsten !

Now sale now in their shop: https://gigposters.jimdo.com/eng/shop/sps-029-e/

Richey Beckett Crisis AlexisOnFire Print

No comments:

Richey Beckett has dropped his first screen print of 2017 - 'CRISIS'.

The artwork was created to officially celebrate the tenth anniversary of AlexisOnFire’s acclaimed album ’CRISIS’. Thematically the record is inspired by the events of the Great Lakes Blizzard that struck the band's homeland of Southern Ontario in 1977.

The original album art featured a series of black and white photographs depicting various scenes from the aftermath of the blizzard - cars buried beneath heavy snowfall, a man with severely frostbitten hands. For the tenth anniversary art Richey wanted to show the effects that the blizzard had on wildlife - as species were driven out of their habitats and challenged to find food. Although several species of swan live on Lake Erie, it’s extremely rare to find a black one.

The term ‘Black Swan’ is used to describe an event or occurrence that deviates beyond what is normally expected (deriving from the historic Western belief that all swans are white). It describes something that is unpredictable and causes great effect. This felt like the perfect metaphor for the Great Lakes Blizzard, which only came about due to a specific combination of extreme weather conditions. The black, white and red coloration played perfectly with the existing palette of the ‘Crisis’ record art.

A limited edition artist set of 75, beautifully silk screen printed on 12"x24" 100lb Speckletone Madero Beach French Paper.

The Rock Poster Art of Todd Slater Artist Edition Release

No comments:
The Rock Poster Art of Todd Slater Artist Edition

It's been a long time in the making but Todd Slater has received his books and they are up on www.toddslater.net. Todd has talked about it some on social media but in case you haven't heard a massive book was released last year featuring his gig poster work from 2004-2015 and it's pretty remarkable.

Todd talks about the book:
I've been approached twice by separate publishers throughout the last 4 years about putting together a book but resisted due to compromises on things like hardcover, larger page size and the actual number of pages. The patience ended up paying off and after meeting with Chris from the Flood Gallery during SXSW in 2014 and I knew I had found the right partner. Flood has produced a stunning product and you can see some past work here on David Bowie's Golden Years to The Cure Photographs along with Unseen Beatles Photos. Upon meeting with them it became apparent to me that they weren't cutting corners and that the art truly transcended everything else. The Rock Poster Art of Todd Slater is hardback, clocks in at 288 pages and measures 13.1x10.5 inches. It is a coffee table book in the truest sense of the word.

We organized the book by year starting with 2004 and ending with 2015. It shows a nice progression in my work and also features full page images of the prints; no thumbnails exist!

There's other nice surprises spread throughout the pages including a foreward that's both thoughtful and hilarious by the unfuckwithable Rob Jones. You'll find a number of quotes throughout the pages from my peers as well. Please visit their sites and support them, I'm honored they would be *forced* to say such nice things about me: Here is a list of the contributors in the order they fall in the book: Methane Studios, Jeff Kleinsmith, Ken Taylor, Brad Klausen, Jason Edmiston, James Flames, DKNG, Jason Munn, Dan Stiles, Emek, Mark Brickey, Kevin Tong, Jay Ryan, Tyler Stout & Chuck Sperry.

So here's the goods: anyone who purchases the book from me gets one exclusive 9x12 print randomly. There are 4 total (each S/N to 200) and the only way to get them is to buy the book. The Flood Gallery has their own 4 that are exclusive to their site. The print will be inserted into the book in its own poly bag to prevent surface scratching. Random orders will receive a foil version of the print and are numbered to 30 copies each. Also, all books from me come signed and are bubbled wrapped and packaged in a thick literature mailer. I've got roughly 200 left of these and considering the cost to ship a palette from London to the US I suspect this will be the only time I have these for sale.
Package 1: $60. A copy of the hardback book with one randomly inserted print. The prints are signed and numbered to 200 copies.
Package 2: $150. A copy of the hardback book with all 4 prints signed and numbered to 200 copies. 25 packages available.
Package 3: $225. A copy of the hardback book with all 4 foil prints numbered to 30 copies. 10 packages available.

Stan & Vince Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Poster Release From Dark Hall Mansion

No comments:

Dark Hall Mansion is pleased to start the year with DHM's officially licensed limited edition print release in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products for "HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS" by contemporary artist team, Stan & Vince, and available this Friday, January 27th!!

Building on the success of Dark Hall Mansion's official print release in 2016 for the first film in the "HARRY POTTER" series, we're honored to now be able to bring fans the climactic series closer that finds Harry Potter and Voldemort locked in a finale that is seven J.K. Rowling books in the making! Contemporary artists Stan & Vince not only capture the moment that culminates this epic struggle but specifically that turn within their final confrontation where Harry, through seemingly endless years of challenges and hard won faith, finally begins to best Voldemort and the triumphant ending is finally in sight, even to Voldemort himself.

Stan & Vince evoke mood, tone and magic for their Standard edition, a piece that is not sufficiently well served by simple monitor images but whose detail is best appreciated by clicking the closeups to recognize their detailing. Their Variant edition is a sharp, striking piece that heightens and distills tones for a restrained and elegant take on this masterful series closer.

DHM's limited edition "HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS" fine art prints are officially Warner Bros licensed, hand numbered, 8-color screen prints measuring 24" x 36" with very few prints available worldwide given the millions of "HARRY POTTER" fans everywhere. Unlike the first "HARRY POTTER" print release in 2016, which was a timed edition and so available over the course of a week to all comers, prints for "HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS" are available only on a first come basis beginning this Friday and limited to only the edition run cited below. Note: when these prints are sold there is NO reprinting or reissuing of editions so purchase where interested while you can.

"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS"
Standard 24" x 36" Edition of 280 $65
"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS"
Variant 24" x 36" Edition of 70 $95
"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS"
Select 24" x 36" Foil-Edition of 15 (based on Std edition colorway) $150
"HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS"
Select 24" x 36" Foil-Edition of 15 (based on Variant edition colorway) $150

Timothy Pittides Phantom Of The Opera Poster Release

Timothy Pittides Phantom Of The Opera Poster Print

Mad Duck Posters is back this week with a brand new poster for the timeless film "The Phantom Of The Opera" by talented artist Timothy Pittides!

"The Phantom Of The Opera" is a classic story that is known to all, and there is no better representation of the story than the 1925 version of the movie starring Lon Chaney!

The artist had the following to say about the movie and art:
"I have been waiting to do a poster for The Phantom of the Opera for over a year. It is my favorite film from the silent film era and my sketchbook has been busy with concepts relating to the film. I wanted to do something different than the other posters for the film that artists have been releasing. The first order of business was NOT to include the Phantom as the Red Death. That ship has sailed. Second, I wanted a design to fit alongside my poster for my second favorite silent film, Nosferatu. Third, I didnt want to focus on Erik himself. I believe the story didnt focus on him as much as it did Christine. Christine was the key to everything, his love, his rage, and his eventually downfall. And on her side, she had to endure so much and did what she had to do for love. I took the mirror as central theme and wanted to portray a feeling of dread, beauty and sadness. I hope this comes across. "
The poster will be available in both a standard and variant edition.
Standard Edition: 3 color screenprint, printed on Packing Chip Kraft-Tone. Printed by VGKIDS. Numbered edition of 125: $40.00
Metallic Variant Edition: 3 color screenprint featuring Metallic Nickel ink. Printed on Reich Shimmer Metallic Silver paper. Numbered edition of 45: $50.00

Both posters will drop at 12pm Eastern time this Wednesday, January 25th at MadDuckPosters.com
