Breaking Bad Golden Moth Foilz HPM Art Release

No comments:

Breaking Bad will always be remembered as one of the best series on TV. Better Call Saul just ended there third season and the story of Jimmy McGill has been a wild ride as some of the characters from Breaking Bad have been woven through the story.

One of the iconic scenes involved Jesse Pinkman and Lydia in the warehouse and using a forklift to grab a barrel of methylamine, but discovered that there was a GPS tracker affixed to the bottom of the barrel. The barrel had the Golden Moth on it.

I thought it would be fun to do it on some Lava Foil paper. Done with fluorescent spray paint it looks really cool under a black light. The HPM measures 12 x 12 inches and only 10 them were made.

On sale now at www.InsidethePoster.com .

Roger Waters Us Them Tour Poster By AngryBlue Release

No comments:

It's not often we get a poster for Roger Waters let alone a tour and now we got both. Angryblue was asked to do the tour poster for the 2017 Roger Waters tour. It's a beautiful show and if you get the opportunity to check out one of the dates, treat yourself to an evening of a wonderful audio and visual experience. According to Justin it might be the best concert he's attended. Be sure to check out the new album also it's really good.

Justin talks about the design:
Having free reign has been something that's slowly being taken from artists in this poster world for some reason. Naturally, I had to get a final sign-off as it's merchandise for the tour, but I didn't feel like I had anyone lording over my shoulders.

The only direction I was given was to keep with the tour through line of referencing the 'Animals' cover. So, I started with Battersea Power Station and thought a giant snarling pig lording over the edge would be a fun dynamic take. After that, I started peppering in some references to other albums that would have selections played from throughout the show.
This print run is the same as the ones on tour with the exception that his artist copies are printed on a natural/cream paper vs white paper on tour.

The posters are 18x24 screen prints signed/numbered run of 100 on a natural/cream paper at $75.

The artist proofs will be available June 23 Friday 12pm EDT at https://angryblue.com/

Krzysztof Domaradzki Angel Heart Poster Release From Nautilus Art Prints

No comments:

Variant

Great news for film Noir enthusiasts! Nautilus Art prints plunges into the disturbing and haunting atmosphere of Angel Heart. Directed in 1987 by Alan Parker, the film features Mickey Rourke and Robert DeNiro, both diabolically inhabited by their role.

Today, in collaboration with Studiocanal, Nautilus offers a reinterpretation of this atmosphere by the hand of a specialist of very elaborate compositions the designer Krzystof Domaradzki. This is one movie I never forgot it was so good. Surprised this is the first time someone did a poster for it.

Tammy Harrington Lifes A Peach Print Release From Sally Centigrade Gallery

No comments:

This week we visit Arkansas for Sally Centigrade Gallery's Travel By Screen Series, where a poster is made for a popular area code for each state. The artist is Tammy Harrington and the print is titled Life's A Peach.

Tammy talks about her print:
I was inspired by the rich history of the peach orchards in Johnson County Arkansas (479 area code). The elevation of the Ozark Mountains supports the growth of this juicy yellow-fleshed fruit. Just a short distance off of old Highway 64, peach lovers can still stop by an orchard to pick their own fruit right off the tree. Or you could attend the annual Johnson County Peach Festival to participate in the peach pit spitting contest. I chose to use a vintage peach label to pay homage to the time when this fruit was king in Johnson County.
Tammy Harrington is an Arkansas printmaker and Art professor at the University of the Ozarks.

Rob Loukotka I Spy Gold ACME Poster Kickstarter Project

No comments:

Pretty cool news a while back, Kickstarter had invited Rob Loukotka to do a 'remix' of his huge ACME poster for an upcoming celebration.

This week Kickstarter is celebrating their 8th year and $3B in projects by featuring his designs as part of their 'Kickstarter Gold' campaign. In 2012 you might remember his 'ACME Corporation' poster raised $105,000 there.

A new poster https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fringefocus/kickstarter-gold-the-acme-corporation featuring 126 ACME gadgets featured in Wile E Coyote cartoons from 1949 to 1994, is now a part of just 60 hand-picked projects to celebrate the history of Kickstarter thus far.

Anyway, Rob illustrated the poster with a retro 'I Spy' vibe and Kickstarter effectively launched his company and career back then.

Crosshair Swans Angel Olsen And Eric Church Posters

No comments:

Dan MacAdam of Crosshair Design recently returned from ancient and beautiful Barcelona where Crosshair was a participant in the Flatstock 60 international rock poster show at the Primavera Sound music festival, alongside 30 of the world greatest printmakers and Most Fun People. Dan was commissioned to produce two posters for artists performing at the festival: Swans and Angel Olsen. He was  very excited about both of them. Swans they've worked with before (including a poster for their previous Primavera performance in 2015); Angel Olsen...as far as Dan know's this is the first screenprinted poster ever made for her as a headliner.  Prior to the trip Dan completed two more posters for Eric Church, bringing it to 5 for this year's tour.

Bernie Wrightson Meltification of the Loathsome Fishes Print

No comments:

Nakatomi have a very special release, a project that was in development before Bernie Wrightson passed earlier this year.

Nakatomi is proud to release this brand-new reproduction of one of Bernie's great, unpublished masterpieces! Late last year, they were very happy to be able to have access to this original painting that was hanging in Bernie's house, and had it painstakingly scanned at high-resolution to bring you a color-accurate Giclée of this painting.

This print is available in two different sizes- a 12 x 30" edition limited to 400 copies, and a GIANT 24 x 60" edition of only 50 -a massive actual-size reproduction of the original painting.

About the title, from Doyle-
"During one of my last visits at the Wrightson home here in Austin, I asked Bernie about the title of this piece, and he told me, with a grin on his face-'Meltification of the Loathsome Fishes' was from him mishearing the Bible story, 'Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes.' It was classic Bernie- wry and irreverent."

Originally painted back in the 1980's, this image has only been released once before as a print back in 1993. That printing was small, and did not capture the full color depth and 'hot' teal and red highlights of the original painting- it was definitely limited to the printing capabilities of the time. This reproduction features a wider color range to make it virtually indistinguishable from the original- especially at the larger size!
Produced through agreement with the Wrightson Estate.

Kyle Baker Avett Brothers and Mavericks Posters

No comments:

Kyle Baker has a pair of new posters to release belatedly. The first is for a favorite client of his over the years: The Avett Brothers. Their fans seem to dig the landmark-themed posters he's done for them so he stuck with that direction for their Orlando gig late last month.

The second is for a new client of Baker Prints, The Mavericks. If you've never heard them, check 'em out, they're great. Sort of like Elvis crooning over an electric mariachi band with a Bakersfield vibe, big songs with great hooks.

In keeping with the landmark theme of previous posters for the Avett Brothers in Chicago and Wichita, this poster for the Bros Orlando gig in May 2017 depicts "The Eye", an enormous Ferris Wheel built just a couple years back.

Edition Size Artist Edition 53, Rainbow Foil Variant 23
Paper 18 x 24 inches, printed on Cougar Natural cover and Rainbow Foil cardstock
Screens & Ink

Kyle became a fan of the Mavericks in the last couple years while listening to Outlaw Country on Sirius XM radio, so he was thrilled when they called and asked if he'd design and print a poster for their gig at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Edition Size Artist Edition (Green paper) 43, Orange Variant 14, Sparkle Variant 12
Paper 18 x 24 inches, Neenah Astrobrights green cover stock, Neenah Astrobrights orange cover stock, 10pt Sparkle Foil holographic board.

So when he said he was in for their recent Blacklight Show they were thrilled, but his schedule became super packed and couldn't make it in time. So he's jumping on now with this brand new Fluorescent Blacklight screen print featuring one of my favorite under rated films Attack the Block.

Blondie Posters By Shepard Fairey Release

No comments:

Obey Giant is going to be releasing four Blondie posters by Shepard Fairey.
I’ve been a Blondie fan since I was nine-years-old and I’ve always admired their courage to play music in styles ranging from punk to reggae, to hip-hop, to pop. I’ve collaborated with Debbie Harry and Chris Stein on a couple of projects, but I was incredibly honored to be asked to design the newest Blondie album package for their album Pollinator, which by the way, is excellent. As an additional art component to the actual album package, I also did the tour posters for a few legs of their tour in support of the album. I have 150 of each print signed and numbered for sale on my website ObeyGiant.com, and these are the only signed and numbered prints that will be available. Be sure to listen to Pollinator if you haven’t already! – Shepard
